Chicken Shawarma

I love chicken shawarma, maybe it’s because I’m lebanese, but regardless it’s just good.  It’s smokey spiced flavor pairs wonderfully with hummus or tzatziki. It’s tasty on it’s own, but also makes great sandwiches and salads. Try it today for a taste of the middle east a little closer to home.

Food 040

Chicken Shawarma
1 1/2 tsp paprika
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp granulated garlic
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp all spice
1/4 tsp chili powder
4 chicken cutlets

Mix paprika, cumin, garlic, cinnamon, all spice and chili powder. Place chicken in resealable plastic bag then sprinkle with spice mixture. Rub chicken with spice mixture then seal bag, let marinate for 30 minutes.

Preheat a grill pan to medium high heat with olive oil.  Sprinkle chicken cutlets with salt then cook for 5 minutes on each side until cooked through. Remove to cutting board and allowing meat to rest for 5 minutes.  Slice chicken thinly then serve over rice or couscous.
